Pescennius Niger, 193-194. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 2.75 g, 11 h), Caesarea in Cappadocia. IMP CAES PESC NIGER IVST AVG Laureate head of Pescennius Niger to right. Rev. SALVTI AVGVS Salus standing front, head to right, holding serpent in her right arm and feeding it from a patera held in her left hand; at her feet to right, lighted altar. BMC -, cf. p. 80 note 312A. Cohen 67. RIC 76. Beautifully toned. Harshly cleaned and somewhat porous, otherwise, good very fine.
